Lenten Devotions

I have been contemplating what to do for Lent this year over the past week or so. I really want to do something devotional on a daily basis. And if I am honest with myself, I know it should be something already structured--not something I have to add the structure to, as I KNOW I will fail. I did Women of Grace about 2 years ago, and it was probably one of the most spiritually fruitful "studies" I have done in my life. It was deeply changing, and i really do long to do it again. Or rather, I long for that spiritual depth. There is another study that has come to my attention: The Love Dare, it is connected with the movie Fireproof, which I have not seen, only heard about. I guess it has a series of devotional challenges that challenge you to be a better spouse, in order to build a stronger marriage. Another devotional study I have participated in before, that I am considering jumping back into, is Light Weigh. It combines Catholic spirituality with proper eating habits. It helps to bring discipline both spiritually and physically. So with all this to consider, and I am open to other ideas, I am not sure which I will do.
I have not decided what, if anything, I will give up. Probably something like reading on Fridays. I LOOOVE to read, so this is always a particularly hard thing for me. Also, I really like adding things to my daily routine, it works well for me. For instance, the year I did Women of Grace, I also started awakening about an hour before my kids to have QUIET devotional time with my Lord. With the new baby, I am not sure if I will realistically pull that one off. But with the suggestions from confession the other day, and whatever I decide to do, I will be good.
That is all for now.
Well not quite...here is a cute family idea for welcoming Lent.

I started waking up an hour before the kiddos just in the last few months. I REALLY love it. I don't know that I could do it w/ an infant though. Would love to do Women of Grace.

Waking up an hour before your kids do for quiet time is really an inspired idea. I try to incorporate doing so into my daily routine. It seems to keep my life so much more sane.

Great post!

Immaculee said the most important thing you can do is carry your rosary around with you throughout the day and pray with it as needed.... Thought that might be an interesting Lenten devotion.

Block nights is when the dr. works from 4p-9am Monday thru Friday nights. Anthony kept this schedule all thru the weekend too in order to maintain his sleep cycle. So everyday he wakes up at 3:30p showers and leaves. He gets home around 9a and sleeps until 3:30. We havent seen him in like 4 weeks. (Sat and Sun evening for a few hours I guess but he is usually dosing off and grumpy). I am just so happy its over!
